Book Editing

We have made the process of determining how much it will cost to edit your book simple and straightforward. It is a simple seven-step process.

Note: It is important to note, that this includes one round of editing of your manuscript. Each additional editing pass will be based on an hourly rate for each pass through the process. Authors may continue to do multiple rounds of editing, regardless of which option they select, but additional charges will apply. These rates and charges will be discussed after the first editing pass has occurred.

Step 1: Editing Process

Here is what you need to do for this process:

  • You send us your manuscript in Microsoft Word that is ready to be edited. You can send any five pages of the book.
    After we receive your manuscript, we will:
  • We will edit your manuscript (the five pages) using three levels of edit.
  • We will return the edited pages to you for review and will recommend the best level of edit for your manuscript. It is ultimately your decision; we can only provide a recommendation.

Step 2: Selecting the Level of Edit & Finalize Costs

Here is what you need you to do for this process:

  • Choose which level of edit you would like us to use to edit your book.

    Once you do that, we will:

  • Calculate your final editing costs and send to your for approval.

  • Seek your approval and sign-off on the work.

  • Setup a payment plan for you based on the number of chapters. you will receive edited chapters files throughout the editing cycle. This will also speed up the editing process and get your edited manuscript in your hands faster.

Step 3: Edit Manuscript

Here is what you need you to do for this process:

  • Send final manuscript for editing.
    Once you do that, we will:
  • Start editing your manuscript.
  • Send back the edited files, as soon as editing is completed.
  • Invoice you for editing work at the time intervals we agreed to in Step #2.

Step 4: Review Edited Manuscript

Here is what you need you to do for this process:

  • Send final manuscript for editing.
    Once you do that, we will:
  • Start editing your manuscript.
  • Send back the edited files, as soon as editing is completed.
  • Invoice you for editing work at the time intervals we agreed to in Step #2.

(Optional) Step 5: Basic Copy-Edit

Our editors will:

  • Correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax
  • Correct errors in sentence structure and language usage
  • Correct errors in commonly known facts

It is important to note, that this includes one round of editing for your manuscript. Each additional editing pass will be based on an hourly rate for each pass through the process. Authors may continue to do multiple rounds of editing, regardless of which option they select, but additional charges will apply. These rates and charges will be discussed after the first round of editing pass has occurred.

Rate: Copy edit: 1005 words in 30 minutes (33 words/minute)

(Optional) Step 6: Heavy Copy-Edit

Our editors will:

  • Correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax
  • Correct errors in sentence structure and language usage
  • Correct errors in commonly known facts

Rate: Heavy copy edit: 322 words in 20 minutes (16 words/minute)

(Optional) Step 7: Substantive Copy-Edit

Our editors will:

  • Correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax
  • Correct errors in sentence structure and language usage
  • Correct errors in commonly known facts

Rate: Substantive/developmental copy edit: 300 words in 45 minutes (6.5 words/minute)
